Dear Patient!
![]() | Are you suffering from hip complaints? Are you about to undergo hip prosthesis surgery? Do you already have an artificial hip joint? |
On the following pages we would like to give you some answers to your questions about the subject of hip endoprostheses. However, under no circumstances can this general information substitute medical consultation and examination. It only serves to offer you with suggestions and supplement discussions with your doctor. He can go into greater detail on your specific complaints and will provide you with treatment to suit your needs.
Hip joint disorders occur frequently and people affected complain about pain and impaired mobility in the hip joint, which can even lead to incapacity to work and diminished quality of life. A hip prosthesis operation can usually relieve sufferers of their pain and restore most of their mobility. Only a few months after the operation patients return to their jobs, engage in sporting activities and organise their leisure time with very few limitations.
The number of artificial hip joints being implanted in Germany every year has already reached about 200,000 – and the trend is increasing. As a result, hip prosthesis surgery now ranks among the routine procedures. Owing to state-of-the-art surgical techniques hip endoprostheses can remain in the body for up to 20 years or even longer. In addition to new types of prostheses and instruments, surgeons now also have at their disposal so-called minimally invasive surgical techniques in which as much tissue as possible is preserved.
The treatment of hip complaints can only be successful if the most appropriate method is used. If you want to find out how your complaints are best treated, please consult your specialist. We wish you all the best.
Yours sincerely
